Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev paid a visit to NATO
Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev visited NATO Headquarters on 17 May 2021. The visit took place around a time of the 27th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s signing Partnership for Peace Framework Document, a cornerstone document of the Azerbaijan-NATO partnership.
During his visit, Mr. Hajiyev met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană and participated in a “30+1” format meeting with the NATO Allies.
In the discussions, Assistant to President Mr. Hajiyev briefed the Allied nations on the results of the Patriotic War and Azerbaijan’s vision on regional security enviornment, exchanged views on the current state of affairs in the Azerbaijan-NATO partnership, its prospects and other issues of mutual interest.
The NATO member states described Azerbaijan as a reliable and important partner country and greatly appreciated Azerbaijan's active participation in the Partnership for Peace program, its contribution to NATO-led operations and, in particular, support to the Afghanistan mission, progress in enhancing interoperability and defence reforms.
