NATO Assistant Secretary General for Innovation, Hybrid, and Cyber, Jean-Charles Ellermann-Kingombe attended COP29, held in Baku
On November 14-16, Jean-Charles Ellermann-Kingombe, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Innovation, Hybrid, and Cyber, was on a visit to Baku to participate in the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29).
On November 15, on the sidelines of COP29, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Innovation, Hybrid, and Cyber, Jean-Charles Ellermann-Kingombe, held bilateral meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov and Deputy Minister of Energy, Orkhan Zeynalov.
In the meeting held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov and the NATO Assistant Secretary General, Ellermann-Kingombe, issues related to the partnership between Azerbaijan and NATO and the prospects for cooperation within the framework of Azerbaijan’s COP29 Presidency were discussed.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov noted with satisfaction that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the "Partnership for Peace" Program, which laid the foundation for cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO. He highlighted that, within this framework, several joint projects have been implemented through mutual cooperation.
It was noted that over the 30 years of our partnership, Azerbaijan's exemplary participation in NATO's peacekeeping operations, as well as its active involvement in mutually beneficial cooperation within the NATO framework, has led to Azerbaijan being recognized as a reliable partner.
The Minister also mentioned Azerbaijan’s readiness to collaborate with NATO on advancing climate action within the framework of Azerbaijan’s COP29 Presidency.
The discussion also covered other topics of mutual interest.
In the meeting held between NATO Assistant Secretary General Jean-Charles Ellermann-Kingombe and Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Orkhan Zeynalov, two sides discussed issues related to the cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan in the fields of energy security, green energy transition, and climate change.
